Why am I having trouble receiving email in MSN Mail or MSN Hotmail?

A friend sends you an email message but instead of going to your Inbox, the message is sent directly to your Junk Mail folder. Possible causes include:

Your friend's email address is in your Block Sender list.

Your friend's email address is in both your Block Sender list and your Safe List.

Ensure that your friend's email address is not in your Block Senders list. To edit your Block Sender list in MSN Mail:

In MSN Premium, click Help & Settings.
Click Settings.
Click Change your email settings.
Click Junk Email Guard and then click Block senders list.
Mark the checkbox next to your friend's email address, and click the Delete Selected Items button.

To edit your Block Sender list in MSN Hotmail:

Sign in to your MSN Hotmail account.
Click Options.
On the Options page, under Mail Handling, click Block Sender.
Remove your friend's email address from the Block Sender list.

If you still cannot receive email from your friend, you can also add the address to your Safe List.

To add an email address to your Safe List in MSN Mail:

In MSN Premium, click Help & Settings.
Click Settings.
Click Change your email settings.
Click Junk Email Guard and then click Safe list.
In the text box, enter your friend's email address, and then click Add.

To add an email address to your Safe List in MSN Hotmail:

Sign in to your MSN Hotmail account.
Click Options.
On the Options page, under Mail Handling, click Safe List.
In the box, enter your friend's email address, and then click Add.
